| Berni Gray & Mumble A Chuck Paine designed Victoria 30 Born in 1948, during the baby boomer years, I have been messing around in boats for a good part of my life, but seriously sailing for the last 20 years. I retired as a Civil Engineering Contractor in 1995 and have since completed a leisurely 7 year circumnavigation in a Westerly 49, via the downwind "milk run" route. The Jester Challenge echoes the writings of my youthful heroes, Moitessier, Knox Johnston,Hasler, Chichester,the Hiscocks, where self reliance was all that separated success from disaster, and I look forward to meeting up with the other challenge skippers. Mumble may not be the quickest boat in the race, but she is well behaved, and slots into the groove to windward very well, which hopefully will allow more rest time. |
