Eddie Smith and Mystique |
![]() |
I have been sailing since I was a boy, my father hired a sailing dinghy when we were on holiday on the Norfolk Broads (I was 8) and bought me a copy of Swallows and Amazons, and I have been hooked ever since! My current boat, Mystique is a one off Maurice Griffiths junk rigged Riptide built by Bob Marshall over a period of twenty years in his back garden, a true home build. Mystique is strong and seaworthy and the most capable sea boat I have ever owned. Participating in the Jester Challenge is a great honour especially on the 50th anniversary of the first transatlantic single handed race. I have been lucky enough to have lived and worked all over the world which has given me many opportunities to sail, now that I am 60 I will be taking on my greatest challenge (in a boat with a solid fuel stove). |
